Remembering How They Lived

Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders by giving them the chance to live their dreams today.

The Calyx & Beau Schenecker Memorial Fund promotes arts, athletics, and
altruism in today’s youth by allowing them to live their dreams through
scholarships for promising leaders, athletes, and artists. It was established
after their tragic deaths in January of 2011 and has granted over $130,000
in scholarships for students and grants for non-profit organizations.

The Fund sponsors two sessions of Calyx Schenecker Art Infinitum, an
annual High School Fine Arts Scholarship Competition, at Hillsborough
Community College (HCC) and St Petersburg College (SPC), and the Beau
Schenecker "Infinity + 1" Culinary Arts Scholarship at HCC.

The Schenecker Leadership and Ethics Speaker Series for Middle School students focuses on foundational issues important to prepare them for High School and later in life. Speakers have included Alex Sheen, Founder of because I said I would, Tim Madigan, journalist author of critically acclaimed non fiction books, The Burning, and I'm Proud of You: My Friendship with Fred Rogers, Garth Callaghan, father, cancer survivor, and author of Napkin Notes: Creating a Daily Conection with Those You Love, and Andrés Ruzo, geothermal scientist and a National Geographic Explorer, known for his science outreach work, and his exploration of Shanay-Timpishka, the "Boiling River of the Amazon".

The Memorial Fund also sponsors the Beau Schenecker Leadership
Scholarship where cash scholarships each are awarded to (one male and
one female) FBLA senior officers at the annual Florida FBLA State
Leadership Conference. Recipients are attending the following
postsecondary institutions (not inclusive): Yale University, University of
Miami, University of Tampa, and the University of Florida.
